Punk Nerds

Written in protest after being told at school that "rock musicians are illiterate and we shouldn't look up to them".

Milo Aukerman is the lead singer of Descendents and research biochemist. Their first album title, “Milo goes to college” is a reference of Milo departing from the band to keep studying, as well as the album cover which was based on a caricature of him as the class nerd.

His band mates said: “What else would you expect him to do but to go off and be a geek?”

Dexter Holland is the Singer and guitarist of the band The Offspring, and also a biologist! After he graduated as valedictorian at high school, he cursed his biology degree at the USC, where he also got a master on microbiology. However, in 1994 he quit college when he was about to earn his PhD to go on tour for the “Smash” album. He finds maths “as exciting as punk rock”

Greg Graffin is the singer from Bad Religion, and college teacher as well. He graduated on anthropology studies and geology. Doc Graffin has written books based on evolution and stuff,

and has lectured courses in the University of California.

Joe Escalante is the bassist of The Vandals and judge. In the early days, he worked as a lawyer to finance the band.
